About Tessa
Tessa holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Abilene Christian University (2016) and a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy from Hardin-Simmons University (2019). She is currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Education and Supervision at Walden University.
Tessa works with children, adolescents, and adults. Her areas of expertise include trauma, specifically sexual assault and violent crime, anxiety, depression, and parent/child relationships. Tessa utilizes play therapy, art therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy and is always willing to use other well-researched techniques that benefit you.
Tessa believes that healing after trauma is possible and that the therapy room is a safe space to begin to process the overwhelming emotions that are present after trauma. Tessa focuses on emotions and focuses on helping you find the strengths and solutions to move forward.
When you come in for your first session, you can expect to be given the opportunity to share whatever is on your mind and receive compassion and insight in return. As Tessa learns about your history and current state, she will work with you to create a plan moving forward.
Tessa is patient, fun, energetic, and compassionate. When she is not at work, Tessa enjoys playing with her Norwich Terrier, playing tabletop roleplaying games, and reading Harry Potter.
